Welcome to the new year-- where many people are happy to put their best selves forward. New Years Resolutions, or Intentions, are a thing for a reason

Rededicating yourself to eating cleaner, decluttering your home, working out regularly, reading more, buying more eco-friendly, and all kinds of other noble goals is always a good idea in my book (and as an aside, instead of being skeptical about how most people only stick to their new goals for three weeks, I say good for them for giving themselves three weeks of goodness! No good thing is wasted :) and everyday is a chance to try again and get back on the proverbial good-choices horse). According to Inc.com, The Top New Year's Resolutions for 2019 are:

1. Diet or eat healthier (71%)

2. Exercise more (65%)

3. Lose weight (54%)

Well I am here to help you with 2 (maybe even 6! of your new year's goals!) if any of your intentions have to do with:

-Working out

-Detoxing your body

-Cleaning up your skin (or skin care products!! Warning: what you put on your skin matters)

-Buying eco-friendly and zero waste

-Buying products made in the USA

Then I can help you out for sure! In fact, I created a product to help with all of those goals! Meet our newest soap friend: The Dead Sea Mud + Pumice + Activated Charcoal Bar. More on this in a minute :)

Working out, Sweatsesh, Self Care time-- all of the above! How do you take care of your skin after working out?

For me, the best part about killing a workout is the after feeling. Seeing all the sweat, feeling my muscles burn, and feeling like I could simultaneously take over the world or melt in a puddle. One of the worst feelings is having all the sweat you just worked so hard to work up dry on you... and you just feel gross. And you wash your face/body but still feel a little gross.

Well that's because only part of the sweat was lifted off your skin. When we sweat, it's not just water coming out of our pores-- It's minerals, oils, bacteria, and toxins too. You wanna get that stuff OFF your face (and your whole body) as soon as possible.

Here are 3 tips for taking care of your skin while working out (AND getting the most out of a sweat session!)

1. Wash your face right after your workout.

Our skin is made to dump toxins! So after you work out it is so important to wash off the sweat. And also the dead skin cells that accumulate, if not, it will quickly clog your pores (same is true if you're wearing a lot of makeup on your face. Washing your face right after working out helps clear off the top layer of skin and makeup so that your skin can detox and your pores stay clear!) Also, use lukewarm water- you want the warm water to keep your pores open so you can get as much of the gunk out.

2. Use a gentle washcloth on your face.

After sweating, our skin is many times already red and a little inflamed from all the blood flow, and the skin on our face is thinner than the skin on other parts of our body. We don't want to further irritate our face with rough tools, or chemicals that strip your skin's natural oil (and good bacteria) membrane. We love using hemp or organic cotton washcloths that are antimicrobial in and of themselves, as well as gentle enough to lift dead skin, without stripping it. We love our black ones, especially with our black soaps. Oh, and make sure you don't use anything with a synthetic fragrance-- that will definitely irritate sensitive skin.

3. Pat your face dry.

Again, our faces are already sensitive and after a good sweat session, they are a little more sensitive. By gently patting your face dry, it is much less abrasive and it even allows you to leave a little bit of the moisture on your face to cool is as well as get absorbed by the skin. Your thirsty skin says thank you :)

I love using our Dead Sea Mud + Pumice + Activated Charcoal bar as a body bar after a sweat session-- on my face, I use a washcloth, but I love using the actual bar on my body to lift away all the grime/sweat/dead skin cells. It is the finest, yet perfect amount, or grit. Added bonus, it makes my whole shower have a citrus fresh, but also earthy and calming smell. Nothing like a little zen after a killer workout.

Dead Sea Mud Soap The Yellow Bird

So why was this soap bar created with pumice, dead sea mud, and activated charcoal?

The pumice in the soap helps remove the dead skin cells, and that is what makes our skin look dull (and can lead to infections and breakouts). So if we can help our skin fully lift the salts and bacteria off our skin, along with our dead skin cells, then we will help promote glowing skin that is also healthy and radiant.

The dead sea mud is just, overall, a killer ingredient-- from being antimicrobial, rich in salt and magnesium that can help improve your skin’s functionality by making it a better barrier and more elastic, to being anti-inflammatory. (And of course the Activated Charcoal is just the best detox ingredient around! Read more about that here.)

Some FAQ about the Dead Sea Mud + Pumice + Activated Charcoal Bar

How is this soap bar eco-friendly and zero-waste?

Like all of our soaps, the packaging is made of 100% recyclable cardboard. But the kicker for me is that this bar can double as an exfoliation tool as well. The fine pumice is perfect for gently lifting impurities and polishing skin, and it also is a completely organic substance that will not harm our oceans or fill a sewage plant.

Is this soap bar cruelty-free?

Yes! None of our products are ever tested on animals.

Is this soap bar vegan?

YEP! This bar is handmade in the USA with the highest grade natural, certified organic, and vegan friendly ingredients. Our soap bars contain no sulfates, parabens, or synthetic dyes.

Is this soap bar good for all skin types?

Yes--made with organic ingredients that are great for acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Perfect for both men and women that are looking for an all natural face wash, body soap, back soap, or hand soap. Also, since it is great for sensitive skin, it includes no parfum or synthetic fragrances that often irritating. This dead sea soap contains a blend of pure antimicrobial essential oils that provides a refreshingly citrus scent.
