Now before you go into a panic from the title, let us just say, that by the end of this article, it will all make perfect sense! Let's get into it!

Acne-prone skin does tend to be on the greasier side, the shine on your blotting sheets or fingerprints on your iPhone prove this point. But did you know that a little oil is actually good for your skin? If your mind is blown you aren’t alone, but when you really think about it, it does make sense.

"How so" you may still be thinking? If no oil was present in your skin, it would mean dull, dry skin, with increased signs of aging. You would then have a whole heap of other issues to worry about like lines and wrinkles (the horror!) so give thanks for your oily skin that keeps you looking youthful and keep on reading!

What causes breakouts?

Breakouts can be caused by many different factors from too much sugar (hello forehead pimples) to hormonal changes (welcome chin zit!), and even stress. Balancing your hormones through a few healthy lifestyle factors is key to keeping your skin in check, but the products you apply are just as important.

Why we broke up with our conventional acne products

The first thing most people do when a pimple rears its head is to rush out to their pharmacy and grab the first product they see targeted towards problem skin. The issue with this is that these products are filled with synthetic and often harsh ingredients that can aggravate an already sore, inflamed complexion and leave you worse off than before.

Wouldn’t you agree that no temporary “quick fix” is worth weeks of breakouts? These pesky breakouts occur as your skin over-compensates for the lack of oil caused by drying products. At the end of the day, it’s all about balance.

How can a face oil solve my skin care woes and balance my skin?

A quality, non-toxic facial oil will help to balance sebum levels in the skin. Oils are super concentrated in nutrients (they contain no water to dilute them) and these nutrients will sink deep into the pores and target your skin care concerns in a jiffy!

Our face oils are just what your skin needs! We have a few different face oils with ingredients specifically chosen to target certain skin concerns like calming and soothing, balancing and clearing, or smoothing and rejuvenating. The good news is all our face oils are great for every skin type, even sensitive skin! You can read about the benefits of each one here and pick the one that targets your main skin concern.

How to apply your oils for best absorption

You have the oil in your hands, but do you know how to apply it? If you apply your oil incorrectly, it won’t work the way it’s supposed to.

An oil is best absorbed when applied to clean and slightly damp skin, so it’s best to apply your oil when you are fresh out of the shower and your pores are open and ready to receive all that nourishing goodness. Or if a shower isn’t in order, simply cleanse your face with a great soap (like our Activated Charcoal bar).

You will then put a few drops of the oil into the palm of your hands, and dab the oil onto your damp face using your fingertips (don’t rub) until fully absorbed. That's all there is to it! If applying it before makeup, simply wait a few extra minutes to let it fully absorb and continue with other moisturizers or makeup.

We hope this article has converted you to the oil side! Start using a quality facial oil on a daily basis and you’ll be amazed at the positive transformation that takes place in your skin!

"I HAVE REALLY NOTICED A DIFFERENCE. IT'S CLEARED UP MY ACNE AND KEPT IT UNDER CONTROL. SOMETHING ME DERMATOLOGIST COULDN'T EVEN DO. I WILL STICK WITH THIS PRODUCT!"- Holly
